Puebla

Hello again. I’m now in Puebla (roughly 150km south-east of Mexico City) staying with Patricia, who I first met in South Africa. The weather is still relatively hot although there have been a few spots of rain.

My plans, as of today, are to head over to Veracruz in a couple of days and then down to the Chiapas region (Tuxtla Gutierrez, San Cristobal de las Casas…) by the end of the week. After a few days there, I’ll be heading down into Guatemala. Apparently Chiapas is roughly 10 hours by bus from here, and Guatemala should only be a further 5.

My spanish is all coming back to me, and I seem to be able to put across pretty much all I want to say and hold a decent conversation, but I guess I won’t be getting quite so much practice once I start travelling on my own. Pretty much everyone I’ve met has recommended I take a plane or two, and skip a couple of countries to make my trip easier, but they haven’t convinced me yet…
